We are fast catching up with the world in blogosphere. Recently the blog count in india crossed the 1 Million mark. However, this number is relatively less when we compare ourselves to other countries...

Maybe we can be satisfied that with the current level of access to technology and internet penetration levels in india, this number is no mean achievement. MSN Portal and Windows Live recently conducted a survey on the status of the indian blogosphere. It threw out some interesting food for thought. With more men folk dominating the indian blogosphere, self-expression and personal-development topped the list as the intended purposes.More details here.

Though many of us depend on blogs for our news and also develop views, indian blogosphere is too nascent to be called a fourth estate by itself. But there should be no doubt that Blogging will prove to be a key tool in this era of educated activist citizens.

Mel Gibson who’s known for his unconventional adventurism in hollywood is back with his new offering Apocalypto, a tale set in the ancient mayan civilisation of what is now Guatemala and Colombia, South America. The film begins with the narration of the mayan people’s desperate attempts to save their civilisation from doom by resorting to ritualistic sacrifices.

The protagonist of the film when chosen to be sacrificed, flees to save his life and the plot is set around the battle that ensues. What is most surprising about the film is the cast is totally new and non-professional, mostly of caucasian and latino descent and they speak in mayan language, i.e, the film is totally subtitled in english. It seems Mel Gibson has chosen the strode the same path as he followed for Passion of the Christ. The Film is already receiving rave reviews since its premiere.Film critics are very vocal about the their appreciation for the visual treat (though splattered with blood and gore) the film offers and the performance of the new and non-professional cast of the film.

News sources point out that Mel Gibson is very much enthusiastic about his new film which he primarily targets to market in south and central america. Attempting a period film not a child’s play and just by seeing the reviews the film receiving, Mel Gibson had done justice to the subject he chose and is most likely to pull off his victory this time too. Being a fan of epic films i cannot wait to see this film, Expecting it to be released in india soon.
